My journey through Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) reached a crucial turning point this week. I made many Significant accomplishments and realizations, through the work I have done this week.
This week's major accomplishment was the formulation of an official topic proposal, I focused my proposal on the topic of Diagnostic radiology. This proposal explains the particular radiology topic that piques my interest, what caused me to be interested in that topic, and what skills I have for this field. I was able to focus on my career goals by creating this proposal, And also get a good understanding of exactly what part of the broad field of radiology I would like to pursue.
Adding to that, I completed another research assessment, this time looking at potential solutions to reduce the risks associated with radiology procedures and their potential downfalls. The source that I used examined the complexities of radiology safety, which improved my knowledge of the subject.
My research this week raised many questions and concerns about the complex field of diagnostic radiology. Such as how the increased use of radiation technology is affecting the health of physicians. Having to sort through an abundance of information on radiology technology, to find the specific information I wanted, was one difficulty this week. To get around this, I used databases and tailored my search commands to fit my exact needs.
This week's success involved deciding exactly what topic I would like to research for my final project, as this is a big step in my ISM journey. The following week, I intend to investigate the practical application of safety solutions in radiology procedures in an effort to understand their practical significance through another research assessment.
Overall, my interest in the field of diagnostic radiology, specifically diagnostic radiology has been strengthened by this week. In future weeks, I hope to learn even more about diagnostic technologies, their advantages and disadvantages, and solutions to the issue of radiation risk.
