This past week I have been working on a couple different things that are vital to my ISM journey. First I have continued to make progress on my original work. I have also been contacting professionals to hopefully schedule another interview.
In terms of my original work I am still working on the research aspect of the work. I am working on gathering information on five of the most commonly used imaging technologies. So far I have researched CT scans, MRIs, PET scans, and ultrasounds.
My most recent original work research assessment was on ultrasounds and it was very fascinating. When thinking about ultrasounds most of the time the first thing people think of is using ultrasound for pregnancy. But my research showed me that there is so much more that ultrasounds are used for.
As I mentioned before I am still contacting and cold calling professionals to hopefully schedule another interview. An issue I have recently run into is that a lot of radiologists are out of the country because most of their work can be done remotely so they don’t have a reason to stay at one office and work. This has made it hard to have an in person interview which is why my interviews so far have been remote.
I have learned to widen the range of people I am looking at contact with and to keep an open mind. If I only have a certain radiologist in mind it will be very hard to contact them. I have decided that instead of focusing on radiologists that purely look at scans from high imaging technology I will also look into contact radiology technicians and radiologists that look at plain film scans. Radiology technicians have a slightly different job from radiologists as they are the ones to take the scans and radiologists analyze it; however I still find this fascinating so I have decided to contact someone radiology technicians.
Overall, the past week in ISM has been a continuation of what I have been doing in the week before but it will all be worth it when I reach my end goals and finally select a mentor.
