Taking the Next Step (10.30.23)

This week in ISM was one that was exciting and frightening all at once. I have just begun making the cold calls that I have been preparing weeks for.

I made my first couple cold calls in the past week and it was very scary at first. I was so nervous the first call I made that I just read the script so I would not forget anything. However, the receptionist on the other end was very sweet and she took my name and number down and said she would ask the radiologists if they would be free for an interview. After the first one or two calls I got the hang of it and I wasn't so scared.

For most of the calls I made the receptionist usually took my name and my phone number down and they said they would contact the radiologists and ask them if they would have time for an interview. Hopefully, they will get back to me and be available for an interview.

Some of the calls I made went straight to voicemail. In this case I made sure to tell them my name and number. An important tip I learned in class when discussing cold calls was that you should always repeat your number twice when giving a person your number. Because if you only say it once they may not have been fast enough to write it. I also made sure that when I was requesting an interview I kept what I said short so I would keep the attention of the receptionist. 

My goals for next week are to make more calls and hopefully get an interview with one radiologist by the end of the week. I will also continue to connect with and message radiologists on LinkedIn to request interviews through that avenue.

Overall, this was a successful and productive week in ISM. Although I do not have an interview just yet I will hopefully get one soon.
