The Start Of A New Journey (8.28.23)

As my first weeks of ISM have begun, the class has proven to be full of important lessons and skills that will help me in the future. I've already laid the groundwork for my professional foundation in just one week. Making a digital portfolio and creating my LinkedIn profile were crucial steps that launched me into the professional world. These are not just formalities necessary for the class, they are reflections of my experiences and aspirations.

Despite being intimidating, public speaking opened up a new path for learning. I learned the art of effective communication through my introduction speech to my classmates, including how to enunciate words clearly and keep a steady pace. These are all skills that are crucial in professional interactions. By preparing ahead of time and keeping calm I was able to deliver a successful introduction speech. These experiences show me that growth often occurs as a result of the challenges you face.

My experiences this week have incited questions in me such as how will I use my public speaking skills in the workplace setting as a radiologist? And what skills and strategies can I use to effectively research my topic?

Though I have always been fascinated with radiology, I have recently gained interest in the world of imaging technologies. I'm intrigued by the variety of imaging techniques and how they affect diagnosis and treatment. My curiosity is sparked further by the issue of radiation exposure and its effects on patients. In the coming days my focus will be on developing my research and analysis skills, which are essential for the upcoming research projects and presentations I will be doing.

As this week draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the victories and challenges I have experienced and how they have assisted in my learning. As the year progresses I hope to gain more work experience and strengthen my work ethic. Overall, my first week in the ISM class has been full of learning experiences and I hope to continue in the same direction.
